Hexhour is an online game made by Virtual Verse Studio LLC (“we”). This page says what the game keeps about you, why, and how to have it deleted. Questions or requests: contact@virtualverse.studio.

What we keep, and why

  • Your game account. The first time you open Hexhour our server makes an account for you: a random account number and a sign-in token, of which we store only a one-way hash. It is how the game knows your characters are yours.
  • Your characters. One for each vocation you play: the name you claim, and its progress — level, experience, items, quests, outfits and the monsters it has hunted. Your gold, gems and stash belong to the account and are shared by its characters. We also keep the players you have blocked. This is the game itself.
  • Sign-in, if you choose it. Sign in with Apple gives us an anonymous identifier from Apple; we do not keep your name or any email address Apple shares. If you sign in with an email address, we keep that address to send you one-time sign-in codes and to let you recover your account. The codes are sent through Amazon Web Services.
  • Chat and reports. Chat messages go to the players who can see them, as they are sent, and are not stored. If you report a player we keep the report: who, why, and the messages you reported, so we can act on it.
  • Purchases. When you buy gems, the App Store or Google Play sends us a signed proof of the purchase: a transaction number, the product and the date. We use it to give you your gems and to make sure one purchase is never credited twice. We never see your payment details.
  • Connection data. Your device connects to our server, so the server sees your IP address. We use it only to keep the game running and to limit abuse, such as how many accounts one address can make in an hour. It is not stored with your account.

Usage data

Unless you turn it off, the game sends usage events to PostHog, which help us see where new players get lost: moments in play such as opening the game, each step of the first city's lessons, reaching a level, finishing a quest, opening the store and buying gems (which pack, not how you paid). Each one carries your phone's system and its version, the game's version, and a random number the game makes on your phone the first time you play.

They are not linked to your account, your name or your email address: the random number is not your account number, and we never join the two. They carry no location, screenshots, chat or anything you type, and your network address is not kept with them. Turn them off in Settings → Share Usage & Crash Data: nothing more is sent from that moment. Deleting the game's local data starts a new random number. The game sends no crash reports.

What we do not do

Hexhour has no advertising and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers, and we do not sell, rent or share your information with anyone for their own use. The game does not access your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.

Reminders

If you turn on Reminders in Settings, the game schedules notifications on the phone itself, asking your phone's permission first where it needs one: one at the hour you choose after the daily reset, and one when a hunt you left running is over. They are made and kept on your device. We send no push notifications, and nothing about your reminders reaches us.

Where it is kept

Our servers are run for us by Fly.io, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Usage events are kept for us by PostHog, Inc., in the United States, under its data processing agreement with us. Everything the game sends travels over encrypted connections.

How long we keep it

Your account and characters are kept until you delete them. When you do, they are removed at once. Two things outlive an account, neither of them attached to it any more: a report somebody else made about a player, and the record of a store transaction number, kept so the same purchase can never be credited twice. Usage events were never attached to your account, so deleting it does not reach them; we keep them only as long as they help us fix and improve the game.

Deleting your account

In the game, open Settings and choose Delete Account. Or see how to ask us to delete it.

Children

Hexhour is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of what we keep about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing contact@virtualverse.studio. We answer within 30 days. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, we rely on providing the game you asked for, on our legitimate interest in keeping it fair and secure, and, for usage data, on our legitimate interest in finding and fixing what confuses players or breaks — which you can refuse at any time with the switch in Settings. You can complain to your data protection authority.
