This page explains what the MapVerse app for iPhone and Apple CarPlay uses, why, and what you can do about it.
There is no account and no MapVerse server. You never give us an email address, a phone number or a password. We do not run a backend that receives your location, your searches or your trips.
Your location
MapVerse asks for permission to use your location so it can show where you are on the map, find places near you and guide you turn by turn on your iPhone and in CarPlay. While a route is active, it keeps using your location when your iPhone is locked so guidance continues; you will see the location indicator while it does.
Your location is used in these places, and only these:
- On your device, to draw your position, follow you along a route, detect when you leave it and announce the next turn.
- Apple Maps services (MapKit). When you search for a place, browse a nearby category or start a route, your search text and location are sent to Apple to return results and directions. MapVerse also asks Apple for the name of the area you are in. Apple handles this under its own privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy
- Map tiles. The map pictures are downloaded from OpenFreeMap. Like any web download, these requests include your IP address and show which area of the map is being displayed, but not your exact position. See openfreemap.org.
We never store, sell or share your location, and it is never used for advertising by us. You can change or revoke the permission at any time in your iPhone's Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
What stays on your device
Your recent destinations, your Home and Work places, the map world you picked, your settings (voice, units, avoid tolls or highways) and any temporary world passes are saved only on your iPhone. Deleting the app deletes them. Voice guidance is generated on your device; MapVerse never uses the microphone.
Purchases
Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card details, your billing address or your Apple Account. The app checks your MapVerse Pro status with Apple's StoreKit directly on your device.
Advertising
MapVerse Pro members never see ads. If you do not have Pro, you can choose to watch a short video to unlock a map world for 24 hours. Videos only play when you tap to watch one, never in CarPlay and never while the vehicle is moving.
These videos are provided by Google AdMob. To show and measure them, Google may collect your device's advertising identifier (only if you allow tracking), your IP address and approximate location derived from it, device information and how you interact with the ad. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, MapVerse asks for your consent through Google's consent form first, and you can change your choice at any time in MapVerse → Settings → Ad privacy choices. On iOS, MapVerse asks for permission before any tracking; if you decline, ads are shown without your advertising identifier. See how Google uses data from apps that use its services.
What MapVerse does not collect
No account details, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, health or motion data. The app has no analytics SDK and we do not build a profile of you.
Who else is involved
- Apple — search, directions, place names and payments, under Apple's privacy policy.
- OpenFreeMap — map tile downloads. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors.
- Google — optional rewarded videos for users without Pro, as described above.
These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. We do not sell your data.
Children
MapVerse is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that age), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Your choices and rights
Because MapVerse keeps your data on your device, deleting the app removes it. You can turn off location access or tracking in your iPhone's Settings, and change ad consent in the app. For data held by Apple or Google, use their privacy tools. For any question or request, email support@virtualverse.studio and we will reply within 30 days. If you are in the EEA or the UK, you may also complain to your national data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the app.
