Terms of Service — Step It

Published by Virtual Verse Studio LLC. Last updated 16 September 2026. Contact support@virtualverse.studio.

By downloading or playing Step It (“the Game”), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Game.

Your privacy is covered separately, at virtualverse.studio/privacy/step-it.

1. Your licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and play the Game on devices you own or control, for your own private, non-commercial entertainment.

You may not: copy, sell, rent, or sublicense the Game; reverse engineer, decompile, or modify it except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded; use cheats, bots, memory editors, or modified clients; or attempt to disrupt our services or other players' matches.

The Game, its art, code, heroes, music, and name remain our property or that of our licensors. Nothing here transfers ownership to you.

2. Virtual items and currency

The Game contains virtual currencies (coins and gems) and virtual items (heroes, emotes, profile frames, and Step Pass rewards).

  • Virtual items and currency have no real-world value, cannot be exchanged for money, and cannot be traded or transferred outside the Game.
  • You do not own virtual items; you receive a limited licence to use them within the Game.
  • We may change, rebalance, add, or remove virtual items, heroes' abilities, and prices as part of ongoing game balancing. Balance changes are a normal part of a live game and are not a defect.
  • Unused virtual items and currency are forfeited if your licence ends, if the Game is discontinued, or if you reset or delete your data.

3. Purchases and refunds

Purchases are processed by Apple or Google, not by us. Their terms and payment policies apply to the transaction.

  • All purchases are final except where refunds are required by law or offered by the store.
  • Refund requests must go to Apple or Google, not to us — we cannot issue refunds for their transactions.
  • Prices may vary by region and may change.
  • Gem packs are consumable: the gems are added to your balance and are used up as you spend them.
  • The Starter Pack is a one-time purchase, offered for a limited time after you first open the Game.
  • The Step Pass premium track is a one-time purchase for one season only. It unlocks that season's premium rewards, including tiers you have already reached, and does not carry over to later seasons.
  • Restore Purchases in the store re-applies one-time purchases (heroes, emotes, and an active season's pass) to the Game. Currency that was already delivered, such as gems, is not delivered a second time.

Consumer rights. If you are in the UK or EEA, you have a statutory right to cancel a digital purchase within 14 days — but that right is lost once delivery begins, which for in-game items and currency is immediately on purchase. Nothing in these terms limits your non-waivable statutory rights.

4. Seasons and time-limited content

The Game runs in seasons. Each season has its own Step Pass, rewards, and board theme, and some heroes are released during a particular season. Seasons start and end on a schedule we set, and we may change that schedule.

When a season ends, its pass progress resets. Rewards you had already earned on that season's pass but not claimed are granted to you automatically.

5. Your progress

The Game does not use an account. Your progress is saved on your device and backed up to our cloud service under an anonymous player ID that also lives on your device.

This means: if you delete the Game or clear its data, or move to a new device, your earned progress may not be recoverable. One-time purchases can usually be recovered with “Restore Purchases”, because the store keeps that record.

“Reset all progress” and “Delete my data” in Settings are permanent and cannot be undone by us.

6. Online play

Online matches depend on your internet connection and on our service providers. A match you leave before it ends counts as a loss. If no opponent is found in time, or an opponent disconnects, a computer-controlled opponent may play instead. We may adjust trophies, rankings, or rewards that result from bugs, outages, or cheating.

7. Notifications

If you allow it, the Game sends reminders about rewards, seasons, and offers. You can turn them off at any time in your device's settings.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Game unlawfully, to attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or another player's data, to exploit bugs for advantage after becoming aware of them, or to misrepresent yourself when contacting support.

We may suspend or end your licence if you materially breach these terms.

9. Availability and changes

We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue the Game or any part of it, including its online services, heroes, and economy. We try to give notice of significant changes but cannot always do so. We do not guarantee the Game will be available without interruption or free of faults.

10. Disclaimers and liability

The Game is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the Game is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD 50. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost virtual items, progress, or currency.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including your statutory consumer rights.

11. Health and wellbeing

Take regular breaks. If you experience discomfort, dizziness, or eye strain, stop playing. A very small number of people may experience seizures when exposed to flashing lights; if you have a history of seizures or epilepsy, consult a doctor before playing.

12. Age

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EEA/UK where required) to play. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only play with a parent or guardian's permission, and they must approve any purchase.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, and the courts of the State of Delaware have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of your country of residence, and may bring proceedings there.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we will notify you in the Game of significant changes. Continuing to play after a change means you accept it.
