Privacy Policy — Dead Mile

Dead Mile is made by Virtual Verse Studio. Effective 28 August 2026.

This page explains what the game collects, why, and how to make it stop. It is short because the game collects little.

There is no account. You never give us a name, an email address or a password, and we could not identify you personally if we wanted to.

What the game collects

A random ID for your installation. When you first open the game it generates a random identifier and stores it alongside your save. It is not derived from your device, your phone number or anything about you — it is a random string. Deleting the game deletes it.

How you play. Which screens you open, which buttons you press, how far you get in a level, which characters you use and upgrade, where you stop playing. We use this to balance the difficulty and to find the places where the game is confusing or broken.

Your device and the app. Phone model, operating system version, screen size, language and the version of Dead Mile you are running. This is how we tell whether a bug affects everyone or one kind of phone.

Your approximate location — country only. Worked out from your IP address when the game sends data. We do not collect or store your street-level location, and the game never asks for location permission.

Purchases. If you buy something, we record which item and its price so we know which offers work. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your card details, your billing address or your store account.

Ads. Which ad slots were shown and whether you finished watching. See below for what our ad partner collects.

Crashes. When the game hits an error it sends us the error message and the technical trace so we can fix it.

Advertising

Dead Mile is free because it shows ads. They are supplied by Unity LevelPlay (ironSource), which may work with other advertising networks to fill them.

To choose ads, our ad partner may use the advertising identifier your phone provides — the IDFA on iOS, the Advertising ID on Android. This identifier is controlled by you:

  • On iOS, the game asks for permission before any of it happens. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, no identifier is shared and you get untargeted ads instead. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
  • On Android, you can reset or delete the Advertising ID in Settings → Google → Ads.

Unity's privacy policy covers what they do with it: unity.com/legal/game-player-and-app-user-privacy-policy

Turning ads off is not something you can buy. Nothing in the shop removes advertising.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Dead Mile asks you before it collects anything. Nothing is sent and no advertising identifier is used until you have answered, and saying no leaves the game exactly as it was — the same content, the same number of ads, just untargeted ones.

Everywhere else, analytics and personalised advertising start switched on, and you can switch either off at any time in the game's Settings → Privacy screen. That choice takes effect immediately.

Where the data goes

Analytics data is processed by PostHog, on servers in the United States, on our behalf and under our instructions. Ad data is processed by Unity LevelPlay and its partner networks. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with anyone else.

How long we keep it

Analytics events are kept for 7 years and then deleted automatically.

Children

Dead Mile is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that age). If you believe a child has played and you would like their data removed, email us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the data attached to your installation, or ask us to delete it. To do either, open Settings → Support in the game — the mail it opens already contains your installation ID, which is the only way we can find your data. Without that ID we have nothing to search by.

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you also have the right to object to processing and to complain to your national data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the game.
